Three Components of a Cupola

On the most basic level, there are three main components of each cupola. First, there is the base on which the entire cupola sits. The vents are the part in the center or the “body” of the cupola and the cap is the portion that is on top. Depending on the design of the cupola, each of these portions can have a different appearance or style.

The number of sides on each cupola will differ too, as some may have four sides whereas other designs have six sides. In addition, the middle component or “vents” of the cupola may have windows instead of vents. Ultimately, the choice between the two depends on your usage and style preferences.
