Designing your handcrafted mailbox starts with picking out the mailbox itself. We have six styles to choose from, each with their own unique charm. Each design offers multiple color options, allowing you to match various features of your home - siding, trim, hardware, etc. Aluminum mailboxes are lightweight but very strong, and because they don’t rust they require very little maintenance.

Next, you’ll choose your mailbox post. We offer 5 different styles, all of which can be fitted with a newspaper box or turned into a double mailbox post. The mailbox posts have different base and trim accents, including boxed bases or raised panels (which can be further customized with copper inserts). The posts are standard white, but can be painted black, clay or light stone.

Finally, turn your handcrafted mailbox into a truly one-of-a-kind design with customized plaques or address signs! Our oval signs can be hung from the posts and can display your family name or street address. They are available in six different color combinations, from classic black and white to chic green and gold. We also have vertical, metal address signs or house numbers in polished or antique brass. You can even top your mailbox post with a copper pineapple, the traditional symbol of hospitality!

How to Choose Cupolas for Larger Homes

When selecting the right size cupola for your home, the general rule of thumb is 1.25” of cupola for every foot of unbroken roof ridge line. For example, a 24’ roof would need a cupola with a minimum 30” wide base. But when choosing cupolas for larger homes, there are a few more factors to consider. Long rooflines may require multiple cupolas, or a multi-story home may need a cupola with custom height. If you’re unsure what size cupola is right for your home, our cupola specialists are always ready to help you find the perfect cupola.

We Build Cupolas for Larger Homes

Here are some great examples of how we modify our cupolas for larger homes. On the left you can see that we expand the windows of the Carlisle style cupola to have eight panes on either side. This balances the proportions and keeps the overall look of the cupola while allowing us to increase its size.

On the right we have the streamlined Ellsworth style cupola. Our client needed a 72” wide cupola, so we used a double window configuration. This stunning look adds the extra touch of elegance that larger homes call for.

Examples of Cupolas on Larger Homes

Here you can see one of our most popular and versatile cupolas, the CNC Window style cupola. This 48” vinyl cupola features straight windows which pair perfectly with the windows on the home and breezeway. The patinated copper roof complements the cool greys of the exterior, and a 39” Morgana Finial adds the perfect finishing touch.

For large homes with multiple levels or particularly long rooflines, we recommend getting two or more cupolas rather than one large cupola. For this home, our clients chose two 30” CNC Window cupolas to anchor each end of their home. Fitted with lighting, they add a welcoming glow at night.

Our Maintenance Free Cupola Materials

The majority of our cupolas are built from attractive cellular PVC vinyl. This durable material provides a clean, polished look and can be easily painted to match your home. Cellular PVC vinyl is stain and fade resistant and won’t chip, bow, warp, scratch or splinter. Unlike wood, you won’t have to worry about insect damage or rot, and because cellular PVC vinyl doesn’t absorb moisture, it won’t swell, crack or develop mold. Most brands of cellular PVC vinyl have a life expectancy of 25+ years, withstanding time and Mother Nature without losing its good looks.

We also offer maintenance free cupolas built from gorgeous Western Red Cedar. Cedar is known for its stunning color and extremely fine, even grain. Because cedar grows in damp climates, it has developed natural defenses against rot, water damage and fungal growth. Western Red Cedar doesn’t swell, twist or warp when exposed to weather fluctuations, and its natural oils actually help to preserve the wood and deter insects and decay. This wood is also pitch and resin free, which allows it to hold a wide variety of finishes and stains.
