What are Octagon Gazebo Cupolas Made From?
The most common gazebo materials are wood and vinyl - the same materials we use for our octagon gazebo cupolas! Wood gazebos have a rustic look that is always at place in the outdoors and are typically less expensive than vinyl gazebos. They do require periodic maintenance in the form of sealing or painting, while vinyl gazebos only need to be hosed down occasionally. Vinyl is attractive and can offer a more elegant look or be matched to the vinyl siding on your house, but vinyl gazebos do tend to be more expensive.
Our octagon gazebo cupolas can be built from either Azek vinyl or Western Red cedar to match your gazebo. Azek vinyl doesn’t yellow or fade and resists moisture, mold, mildew, stains, scratches and dents. Unlike wood, it is not susceptible to damage from insects or rot, and never needs to be stained or sanded. (But it can be easily painted to match your home should you so desire.)
Western Red cedar is naturally resistant to moisture, rot, decay and insect attacks. It doesn’t shrink, swell, warp or crack like other lumbar, even under severe changes in temperature and humidity. It’s natural beauty means it can be left unfinished, but its durability is greatly increased through regular applications of sealer or paint. Western Red Cedar is pitch- and resin-free, so it can accept and hold a variety of colors and finishes.

Our octagon gazebo cupolas designs offer arched windows or louvers and bell-shaped or concave roofs. Available in a variety of sizes, our cupolas can fit gazebos up to 38’ in diameter. For smaller gazebos (roughly 15’-17’ in diameter) we have louver octagon gazebo cupolas in both Azek vinyl and Western Red Cedar. These cupolas feature a slight arch over the louvers and either a combination of vinyl with copper roofing or a completely cedar design. Not sure what size cupola your gazebo needs? The rule of thumb is to multiply 1.25 by the diameter of your gazebo (in feet). For example, a 17’ diameter gazebo will need roughly a 21” wide cupola. Depending on the height of your gazebo, you may need to multiply by 1.5.
